One morning while enjoying breakfast, my son and I were talking about a few of his school activities. Then my son said, "Dad, a person can't be great in everything, right?" I replied, "That's right." Then I asked him, "What do you think you can do better than the others?" He then told me the things he's good at.
Then I gave him encouraging words so that he would focus on developing the things in which he had talents and not waste any chance and time he had to become good in his skills. While walking towards the bathroom to wash my hands, I told him again, "So don't take your life for granted".
That moment, there was also a small voice inside my heart telling me, "Don't take for granted your life, too". I replied, "Yes, yes, help me Lord". The voice spoke again in my heart, "Even you have hope in your son and wish to teach your son to be successful in his life, be useful in the community. I, too, have hope in you and teach you to be successful and useful, so don't you waste the opportunities you have." Truly, God is our Heavenly Father.
Through Holy Spirit, Father lets us know that He also has hope in us to be successful and useful for our generation. So don't waste opportunities in our lives, including His teaching and rebuke.
"Be very careful, then, how you live - not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is." (Ephesians 5:15-17)
